Missed Christmas!
No choir concert, no parties, no decorating, no family time – well almost.
A respiratory infection kept me out of commission for several weeks. I really got caught up on my taped Hallmark movies though. Thought had enough time to heal before leaving for South Georgia to visit granddaughter, her husband and great-grand baby. But when time came – just not over that stuff! Did not get to go.
Normally, it takes me a week to decorate my house – unwrapping dinnerware, ornaments, decorations and then trimming the trees. Only have two small trees now. Donated large tree last year. But I didn’t feel like even opening the boxes.
Finally, a few days felt some better and got the trees out. I was worn out after just putting them up. Decided not to decorate. Few things on the mantle and only took about an hour.
It looked good – no clutter and seems to be keeping the main thing – the main thing. Jesus – the reason for the season and, the reason for JOY even though a different kind of Christmas.

One tradition still planned – Christmas morning breakfast. My son and his family have enjoyed coming over first thing Christmas morning for a large southern breakfast. Bacon, sausage, eggs, grits, biscuits and gravy are simple favorites.
My grandson is also at home recuperating from a severely damaged ankle. He and I plan to enjoy each other over biscuits, gravy and all the trimmings.
If you find your holidays less than usual from illness, injury, or other things, take heart. The birth of our Lord is enough to celebrate.
His birth brings JOY.
Luke 2:10 But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people.11Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord.
His presence brings JOY and
Psalm 16:11 You make known to me the path of life;
you will fill me with joy in your presence,
with eternal pleasures at your right hand.
His peace brings JOY.
John 14:2 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you.I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.
Blessed Christmas as you celebrate the joy of Christ’s birth. Celebrate his presence in your life. He continues to give peace even in the midst of our struggles.
